"Planning, mokopuna assessment, and programme evaluation processes are well established. Kaimahi collaborate to develop the mahere ako, ensuring clear alignment with Te Whāriki a Te Kōhanga Reo. Planning includes documented goals for each rōpū, defined learning outcomes, and a variety of activities designed to stimulate curiosity and engagement. Information on mokopuna learning and progress is gathered through kōnae mokopuna, samples of mahi toi, photographs, and observations. These assessments are linked to whāinga and ngā taumata whakahirahira, and are recorded in Storypark, which also serves as a platform for sharing learning progress with whānau. Kaimahi regularly reflect on their practice to strengthen responsiveness to mokopuna needs and use programme evaluation to measure the quality and impact of learning outcomes."

"Mokopuna are actively engaged in a rich Māori language environment. Kaimahi consistently model te reo Māori as the primary language of communication and employ a range of strategies, including prompts, repetition, and clear instruction, to support language development. Mokopuna are encouraged to participate in karakia and mihi, providing opportunities to hear and learn the formal characteristics of te reo Māori. Pao and waiata are integrated into the programme to enhance comprehension and language use, and mokopuna respond with visible enjoyment. Older mokopuna demonstrate growing proficiency by reciting karakia, mihimihi, pao, and waiata, while younger mokopuna express their understanding through non-verbal cues and body language. Mokopuna are developing as speakers of te reo Māori."
