"Mokopuna engage with tikangā Māori in authentic contexts such as karanga, whaikōrero and whakatau pōwhiri. This supports them in understanding their role as tāngata whenua. Whānau and kaimahi competently provide guidance, leadership, and uphold tikangā and kawa during these times. Kaimahi use a range of strategies that foster mokopuna language development including te reo awhina, te reo tohutohu, te reo kākā, mōteatea and rotarota."
