"The centre actively promotes Māori language, identity and culture. This is evident in the environment and teacher practice. Māori mythology and excursions to areas of significance to local iwi are integral aspects of the programme. Māori core values such as manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga and ako are interwoven with the Christian values and 'Fruits of the Spirit' curriculum."
Māori language, culture, and values intentionally embedded across practice.
"All early childhood services are required to promote children's health and safety and to regularly review their compliance with legal requirements."
Management assurance confirms compliance with health and safety standards.
"Highly effective leadership is provided by the trustees and centre manager. A clear direction is provided for the ongoing development of the service. Trustees and leaders have a very good understanding of the purpose of self review, at a planned and strategic level, and use a well-developed framework for major reviews. A well-managed performance management process integrates inquiry into teacher practice and includes regular reflection on achieving positive outcomes for all children."
Highly effective strategic leadership with robust self-review and performance systems.

Composite score
How this is computedOne or more dimensions missing from ERO data
Where Waiapu Kids St Mary's Tahatai hasn't been graded on a dimension, the composite uses the national average for that dimension as a placeholder. Each affected axis below is flagged est. When a new ERO review lands, the placeholder is replaced and the score may shift.
The composite is a weighted average of six ERO dimensions, each scored 0–100 (A=90, B=70, C=50, D=25). The "(p47)" style suffix shows where the centre sits within its EQI band (peer percentile, when ≥10 comparable centres in band). See methodology for the formula + limits.
